TO LOVE

 

I judged so carefully who deserved

The affections of my heart;

My kind words, my tolerance,

My compassion, my love.

 

I missed so many lessons

That were sent to me

With mercy from God above;

I now weep for the underfed

Wishing I had fed them more

Than my meagre portions of love.

THE ONE YOU FEED

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people. He said: "My son, the battle is between two 'wolves' inside us all. One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jelousy, hatred, greed, arrogance, self-pity, resentment, inferiority, pride, superiority and ego. The other is Good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: "Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee replied: "The one you feed."
